Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Automechanika Dubai, the Middle East’s largest international trade fair for the automotive aftermarket industry, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) concludes its three-day run today (November 24 ) after seeing one of their most successful editions to date. The 19thth The edition welcomed 1,145 exhibitors from 53 countries, an increase of 98% compared to last year’s edition, with a wide range of products, services, technologies and knowledge from industry experts present and futures

The final day focused attention on the African market with AfriConnections, a conference stream and networking area dedicated to connecting companies and distributors in Africa with the rest of the world. According to a recent report commissioned for Automechanika Dubai, Africa’s population increase is a key growth driver, with the continent expected to be home to 2.4 billion by 2050. The aging population is expected to Africa’s employment, a key factor in economic growth, will increase exponentially and, by 2050, will surpass that of China and be three times that of the European Union.

The report also predicts that Africa’s current vehicle fleet of around 50 million units will grow substantially over the next decade, with the vehicle fleet in key markets more than doubling by 2040, when the majority of continued growth comes from imported vehicles.

Speaking at the AfriConnections opening session at the Automechanika Academy, Erik Deitersen, director of AfriCon, discussed what the future opportunities look like in a changing African automotive aftermarket:

“Africa is huge and diverse, which in itself is an opportunity,” Deitersen said. “The continent has many urban areas with over a million inhabitants and with population growth comes manufacturing growth.

“IMF figures show that Africa will overtake Asia, the world’s engine of growth, by 2027. We have already seen income growth of 2.8 percent since 2000, while the aftermarket growth has experienced nine percent. improvement in auto parts, three percent in heavy vehicles and eight percent in light vehicles during the same period.”

In collaboration with the Dubai Government Workshop, another innovation from the repair and maintenance division was the tool and skills competition where participants were judged on various characteristics such as skills, knowledge, agility, accuracy and much more. The tire changing and fitting competition took place during the last day and had a great turnout both in participation and in the public.

Organized by Messe Frankfurt Middle East, Automechanika 2022 covered six product sectors: parts and components, electronics and systems, accessories and customization, tires and batteries, repair and maintenance and car washing, care and reconditioning in 11 halls at Dubai World Trade. Centre.

Over the past three days, sustainability and how it is changing the face of the industry has been addressed through keynotes and exhibitor products. Returning for his 10th edition, Ahmed Alhussaini, Managing Director of O2 Proformance, marks this edition with its largest participation to date; “As we celebrate a decade of exhibiting at Automechanika Dubai this year, we’ve evolved to be bigger and better each edition. Every year we showcase innovative products and introduce something different, and this year is no different as we launched a smart washing machine that works on a process called bioremediation. The machine converts oil and grease into CO2 and H2O and is constantly cleaned. It also shuts off after 10 minutes helping to conserve electricity.”

“The attendance this year, in all categories, was really special. As we close our doors this year and look towards our 20th anniversary edition in 2023, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our stakeholders, exhibitors and visitors for making this year one of the outings largest Automechankia Dubai to date. ; said Mahmut Gazi Bilikozen, Show Director of Automechanika Dubai.

Automechanika Dubai will return to the Dubai World Trade Center from 15 to 17 November 2023.
