The oil companies left the price of gasoline and diesel unchanged on Tuesday, November 29. Fuel prices have remained unchanged for the past five months.
Public sector oil marketing corporations change fuel prices on a daily basis. The last significant change in fuel prices across the country came in May after the government cut excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per liter and on diesel by Rs 6 per litre.
Breakdown across the city
inside Delhipetrol and diesel cost Rs 96.72/litre and Rs 89.62/litre respectively.
inside Mumbaipetrol is sold at Rs 106.31/litre and diesel at Rs 94.27/litre.
The price of petrol and diesel is Rs 102.63/litre and Rs 94.24/litre in Chennai and at Rs.106.03/litre and Rs.92.76/litre v Kolkataor
Fuel prices are revised by public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs) in line with international reference prices and exchange rates. OMCs include Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL).
Both benchmarks closed on Nov. 18 at their lowest since Sept. 27, extending losses for a second week, with Brent down 9 percent and WTI down 10 percent.
