Chennai, December 3: In an unfortunate incident, a 16-year-old boy, allegedly beaten by a physical education teacher at his school, ended his life in his house on Thursday. The boy was a 12th grade student of a private school in ECR. His parents claimed that the teacher and school management were responsible for their son’s death.
TOI reported that a boy Kavin Kumar from Chinna Neelankarai studied with his brother Darshan, 13, in the same school. Their father Mahesh works as a contract employee of Chennai Corporation. The alleged incident took place last week when Darshan fell asleep in class. Teacher Chellapandian noticed that the boy was sleeping and beat him. Kavin Kumar, who took a two-day leave on Tuesday and Wednesday, went to school on Thursday. At that time, the school’s physical education teacher Venkatesan allegedly accused him of selling prohibited items in the school and assaulted him in front of other students.
After that, Kavin Kumar informed his parents and they visited the school and questioned the school authorities. On Friday morning, after returning home, Kavin Kumar went to the toilet and killed himself. The police have reported the matter and further investigation is underway.
