Chennai: Residents of the Tamil Nadu capital are likely to witness pleasant weather even before another weather system forms over the Bay of Bengal next week. According to the forecast of meteorologists, there are chances of rain with thunderstorms along with cloud cover in the city and suburbs for at least the next three days.
The maximum temperature in the city is likely to be around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 24-25 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, according to private meteorologists, a dry spell could be in place from Monday, December 5, before intense spells return to the city and many parts of the state as the weather system approaches the Tamil Nadu coast.
The Meteorological Department has also predicted light to moderate intensity of rainfall at many places with isolated thunderstorms and lightning over the Tamil Nadu coast on December 3. Skies are likely to be generally cloudy with moderate rain likely on December 4 and 5.
In view of the upcoming weather system, the MeT center said a low pressure area may form over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea around December 5. According to the IMD forecast for November 6 and 7, the sky is likely to be partly cloudy in the city. Light/moderate rain is likely at some places.
“During the next 48 hours, it is likely to move in a west-northwest direction and concentrate into a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal. It is then likely to continue moving west-northwestward and reach near the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast on December 8,” IMD officials said.
