Drugs by courier: Three-member gang detained in Chennai | Chennai News | News Bharat


CHENNAI: Acting on a tip-off from a courier service, the city police on Sunday night arrested a three-member gang who were buying painkillers in Bengaluru and selling them to students in the city.
The trio was identified as Iniyavan, 24 Semmencheery, PRaveen, 20 years of Thazhambur and a minor. The Semmencherry police received information from the company that they were regularly receiving suspicious packages from Bengaluru at a specific address.
Earlier, the police held meetings with courier companies and asked them to notify if they receive suspicious shipments. The police then set a trap for them. The trio arrived at the courier service to receive the package when they were caught by the police.
Officers examined the package and found it contained painkillers. they also searched the car they drove in and found that it contained half a kg chase. Police said the tablets were ordered online from Bengaluru and distributed to students in Chennai. Police are trying to get information about the sender. The police arrested them and ordered judicial detention.
