The world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, conducted a fire drill at 10am today, ahead of Dubai’s annual New Year celebrations.
A very popular destination that attracts hordes of people who want to mark the start of a new year with a bang, carried out the exercise as part of an annual security initiative. Residents are often evacuated as part of these drills.
Last year, the Dubai Civil Defense authority conducted a similar fire drill in preparation for a safe New Year celebration. The exercise began at 10am after the operations room received a tentative report that a fire had broken out on the 112th floor of the Burj Khalifa.
Staff and residents were immediately evacuated when the fire alarms went off. Response teams from Zaabeel Civil Defense Station arrived within four minutes, extinguishing the minor fire in just 10 minutes.
