Dubai, November 30: St Mary’s Mangalorean Community (SMMC) Dubai has announced its upcoming first mega event of the year 2023 – ‘SMMC Sports Fiesta 2023’.
It will be a one-day outdoor sports event with a Cricket (Men’s and Women’s), Volleyball and Throwball tournament at Skyline University College Ground, Sharjah on February 12, 2023 from 7.30 am .
Since its inception in the year 2013, SMMC, a fast growing and popular Mangalurean organization in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubai is functioning to fulfill the spiritual and community requirements of the huge Mangalurean Konkani community of Dubai Parish and has successfully organized various events such as dramas, sports events, competitions, stage shows, parties, etc.
SMMC has been successfully organizing sports events since last few years. After a period of two years, due to the Covid-19 situation, the central committee of the SMMC, under the direction of its spiritual director, Fr. Víctor Fernandes, has prepared to make the first great event of 2023 as a rewarding. SMMC requests the generous support of the Konkani community for this event, through meaningful contribution and active participation to make this event spectacular.
This popular sporting event will be a full-day outdoor event, open only to Christian teams (of any nationality) with UAE resident visas or Emirati ID holders, where they are expected to participate specialized teams from different Emirates. Attractive cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the winning teams and individuals for their outstanding performance.
Teams are invited to play in the following categories:
Cricket-Overarm (Men’s)
Underarm Cricket (Women)
Volleyball (Men)
Throwball (Women)
As there will be limited teams for each category, entry will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
There will be exciting games for children aged 6 to 16 in different categories.
