Dubai Police has warned against illegal access to the information systems of state institutions.
In an awareness video shared on social media platforms, the police said, in accordance with Article 3 of the UAE Federal Decree no. 34 of 2021 to combat rumors and cyber crimes, the crime is punishable by temporary imprisonment and a minimum fine of 200,000 dirhams. it can reach 500,000 dirhams. According to the law, anyone who unlawfully accesses a website, electronic information system, information network or any information technology means belonging to state institutions is punishable.
The police, in the video, warned against any damage, destruction or interruption of the technological means of state-owned information or the cancellation, removal, destruction, change, copying or republication of confidential data.
If the crime is part of a cyberattack, the prison sentence will not be less than five years and the fine will range from 250,000 to 1.5 million dirhams. The minimum prison sentence will be five years if the crime is committed in relation to data or information related to state information systems.
