Dwayne Bravo, the leading run-scorer in IPL history, has called time on his playing career in the league but will remain with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a new role.
In a statement released, the franchisee revealed that it has appointed Bravo as the bowling coach ahead of IPL 2023. Bravo, who has been playing in the tournament since its inception in 2008, will replace L Balaji in the role after the latter decided to take a break. for one year due to personal obligations.
“I’m looking forward to this new path because it’s something I see myself doing when my playing days are completely over. I enjoy working with the bowlers and this is a role I am excited about. From a player to a coach, I don’t think I have to adapt much because I’m always working with the bowlers while playing and trying to come up with plans and ideas to be one step ahead of the batsmen. The only difference is I won’t be standing in the middle or in the middle anymore,” Bravo said.
“I never thought I would be the leading run-scorer in IPL history. But I am just happy to be a part of IPL history!” he added.
Bravo took the most wickets in IPL history with 183 wins in 161 matches. The all-rounder has also scored 1560 runs with a strike rate of around 130.
Bravo played for Mumbai Indians for the first three seasons before becoming an integral part of Chennai Super Kings from 2011 onwards.
He was part of the Chennai Super Kings IPL wins in 2011, 2018 and 2021 and the Champions League T20 win in 2014. He was also the first player to win the Purple Cap twice for most wickets in an IPL season (2013 and 2015). ).
