Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) presents cultural and artistic performances inspired by the local heritage, in all its assets, to celebrate the 51st National Day of the United Arab Emirates from December 2 to 4, for emphasize the “Spirit of the Union”.
The series of celebrations will take place at Etihad Museum, Al Fahidi Historic Quarter, Al Shindagha Museum and Hatta Heritage Village. Through these, the Authority shines a light on local heritage and culture and presents a picture of the Dubai community, its customs and traditions and the creations of the people of the country. The celebrations are in line with its commitment to cement Dubai’s position as a global center of culture, an incubator of creativity and a thriving talent hub.
The Etihad Museum activities are inspired by the flag of the United Arab Emirates and will open its doors to the public to step inside the moment the Declaration of the Union was signed 51 years ago. There will be performances by bands, and the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra, and also the chance to take part in workshops based around December 2 and the Emirates passport. Guided tours will also be offered to museum visitors, where they will learn about the details of the Etihad Museum, its collections and its historical significance.
Traditional character
The Al Shindagha Museum will bring family members together to learn about the rich heritage of the United Arab Emirates. These will start with the ‘Dubai Creek: The Birth of the City’ house and the Perfume House, to meet the pearl trader and traditional healer, and take part in the ‘paper city’ activity at the visitor center of the Al Shindagha Museum. Al Shindagha Museum will open its outdoor courtyards to visitors to witness traditional crafts such as Al Sadu, Al Talli, metal embossing, Al Khoos weaving and burqa making, as well as live demonstrations on the ‘crafting of Gargour.
Traditional dining experiences will also be on display, giving visitors the opportunity to sample the variety of flavors of UAE cuisine and learn about the customs of serving coffee in the UAE.

The historic Al Fahidi neighborhood will be buzzing with the rhythms of the Dubai Police Military Band, which will be performing in the neighborhood’s alleyways. Visitors will witness folk dances and performances as well as a variety of activities presented by the Bait Al Khanyar Museum Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Center for Cultural Understanding, Al Fahidi Arts & Cultural Center and Al Khayma Heritage Restaurant.
At Hatta Heritage Village, Dubai Culture presents a variety of experiences centered on traditional performances, as well as traditional local food.
The 51st National Day events begin at the Etihad Museum and Al Shindagha Museum at 10am to 8pm, while activities at Al Fahidi Historic Quarter begin at 9am and Hatta Heritage Village at 15:00.
