The Tambaram Police Department has arrested three minors who robbed a jewelery parlor on Velachery Main Road in Gowrivakkam on Saturday within hours of the incident.

Police seized gold and diamond items worth more than 1.5 million rubles that were stolen from the store.

The manager of the Bluestone jewelery showroom lodged a complaint with the Selaiyur police about the theft of gold and diamond jewelery from the shop early on Saturday morning, police said. On the instructions of Commissioner A. Amalaraj, a special police team was deployed on a manhunt across the city to try and nab the culprits.

Meanwhile, the police team also inspected the showroom to check CCTV footage and questioned some teenagers who were natives of Assam and were working near the showroom. Three minors, aged around 16, admitted that they committed the crime by drilling a hole and entering the showroom through an elevator shaft that was under construction.

The Selaiyura police have detained three minors and are continuing the investigation.
