After a massive mob allegedly stormed a police station and demanded the release of people detained in connection with a demonstration against the still-under-construction Adani port, Kerala police on Monday filed complaints against more than 3,000 people, including women and children. Twenty kilometers from the state capital Thiruvananthapuram, a violent mob attacked the Vizhinjam police station yesterday evening as part of the ongoing demonstration against the still-under-development Adani Port. According to authorities, the protesters damaged the station and injured employees. On Saturday, protesters allegedly stopped trucks carrying construction materials to the site of the Adani Group’s port project. Construction work had been halted for the previous three months as protesters, apparently mostly Catholic priests, had erected a large canopy blocking its entrance and claimed the port’s development had contributed to coastal erosion and deprived them of their livelihood. #Kerala #AdaniPortProtest #Vizhinjam
