Mumbai, 2nd December 2022: Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (“KMBL”/Kotak) announced today that it is launching an intensive awareness campaign on safe banking practices and grievance redress.
The one-month initiative is part of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) 2022 Enhanced Awareness Program to raise awareness of safe banking practices and grievance redress in rural and remote areas across the country.
The bank organized on-the-ground events in the form of awareness workshops and seminars to engage with customers in states across the country. In addition, the bank leverages all its customer touchpoints, physical and digital, through emails, social posts, website, ATM screens, and more to spread the message of safe banking practices farther and farther.
The bank also educates participants about fraud such as Juice Jacking, Card Skimming, Phishing, Vishing and Lottery programs. To learn more about these scams, Click here.
The growth of digital payments and the need for awareness campaigns:
- According to RBI data, Over 260 million digital payment transactions Every day is processed by its payment systems, of which the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system itself handles more than two-thirds.
- RBI’s Payments Vision 2025 file confirmed core theme – “Electronic Payments for Everyone, Anywhere, Anytime (4 Es)” to imagine – for every user safesecure, fast, convenient, accessible and affordable electronic payment options (6 attributes)

- Check the spelling of the website/URL being visited to avoid fraud, forgery and Similar websites like banks or e-commerce platforms.
- Be careful when buying/selling products online. To receive money via UPI, no PIN/password is required.
- Before dealing with any company, verify that they are registered and licensed.
Do not do
- Do not share SIM card and mobile number details or write PIN on ATM card or save details on website/device/public laptop/desktop.
- Don’t be trapped by offers to impersonate call center agents of Banks, Insurance, Government etc. and don’t be forced/tricked into sharing Username, Password, Card Details/PIN/CVV/OTP, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Names of Family Members Wait.
- Do not search for service provider contact details from search engines, text messages, social media, email, etc.
