Oppo will provide four major Android updates to its phones | News Bharat

Android OEMs’ software commitments have been getting better in recent years, with Oppo now the latest brand to commit to four years of major Android updates and five years of security patches.

In a press release this week, Oppo announced that its Android 13 rollout is the fastest in the company’s history.

ColorOS 13 has rolled out to 33 devices so far, more than 50% over the same period that Oppo managed with its Android 12/ColorOS 12 upgrade last year. The rollout began with the Find X5 series in August, just days after the Pixel phones, and has since expanded significantly.

But the biggest news from Oppo this week is that ColorOS is getting a new update policy, promising longer Android updates on select devices.

Oppo says this new policy will guarantee four major Android updates and five years of security patches on “flagship” devices launched in 2023 and beyond. The Find X6 series and possibly the Find N2 Flip are one of the reasons that are eligible for the new policy.

OPPO has also announced a new ColorOS update policy. This includes a commitment to guarantee four major ColorOS updates along with 5 years of security patches for global users on select flagship models from 2023. Through that, OPPO aims to provide global users with a long-lasting and more stable intelligent experience. ColorOS.

This strategy mirrors that of OnePlus, which has committed to increasing its software support timeline starting next year. Meanwhile, Samsung has offered the same warranty on its flagship devices since early 2022 and extended it to devices launched in late 2021 as well. Google offers a similar, though slightly shorter policy with three years of major Android updates and five years of security updates, Google’s policy also extends to its more affordable A-Series devices.
