The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in six districts of Tamil Nadu for Tuesday. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Kanyakumari, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Theni and Dindigul districts.

According to the latest observation of the Regional Meteorological Department (RMD), Chennai on Tuesday noon, a trough in the east is visible over Kerala and surrounding areas at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

As far as Chennai and its adjoining areas are concerned, the meteorological department has observed that the sky is likely to be partly cloudy for the next 48 hours and some areas are likely to experience light rain. The highest temperatures are expected to be between 30 and 31 degrees Celsius, and the lowest between 23 and 24 degrees Celsius.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected at one or two places over North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal region and light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at a few places over South Tamil Nadu.

Light to moderate rain is likely at some places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal region from Wednesday to Saturday.
