The 78th SRFI HCL National Squash Championship will be hosted by the Tamil Nadu Squash Rackets Association (TNSRA) under the auspices of the Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) in Chennai, at the Indian Squash & Triathlon Academy from December 4-10.
The National Championship returns after a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19. Chennai will host this prestigious championship for the sixth time.
A total of 503 players registered in 24 countries will participate with national titles in 11 categories.
Joshna Chinappa, the 18-time national champion, will defend her title in the women’s category, while Ramit Tandon topped the men’s category.
Sunayna Kuruvilla, the second seed, withdrew with a hamstring injury. Reigning national champion Saurav Ghosal made the decision after informing the SRFI that he had a long season behind him.
On the eve of the competition, SRFI General Secretary Cyrus Poncha said, “The Federation is delighted to conduct the competition after a gap of one year. This event usually attracts the best talent in our country. With so many young players performing on the international stage, I look forward to seeing how they fare with our experienced players.”
