The past is the Titanic and the iceberg is the content creators, says Nas Daily, kicking off the Billion Follower Summit bringing global social media influencers to the UAE.
When you think of the young nation that is the UAE, you also think of a land of endless opportunities akin to a melting pot of cultures, attracting expats from all over the world to come here in search of dreams and aspirations more big. It makes sense, then, that the biggest expo for content creators takes place right here in Dubai, attracting popular social media pioneers from around the world.
Taking place at Atlantis The Palm on December 3-4, the summit is open to anyone interested in content creation, to discover how to excel in social media and entrepreneurship and successfully combine the two.
More than 3,000 people, 200 CEOs, more than 300 international companies specializing in content creation, in addition to more than 100 international agencies working in the field will attend the summit.
The event began with an inaugural lecture by the UAE government, which introduced the UAE New Media Academy, inaugurated in June 2020 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the Emirates United Arabs and ruler of Dubai. followed by a session by Nuseir Yassin, popularly known as Nas Daily, CEO and founder of Nas Company.
Global audiences had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of content creation, gaining a perspective on how quickly the industry is moving forward.
“It’s not about the Nas Daily, it’s about you,” said the ever-so-energetic Nuseir.
“Years ago, this was social media, with only 1 million users,” he added, pointing to a screen showing the number of people on YouTube less than a decade ago.
“Today, in just six years, this is social networks. So many new platforms, we have TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Meta, and many of them have over a billion users,” Nuseir said.
“And these platforms need creators.”
The best thing that social media has enabled, according to Nuseir, is to give people more autonomy to do their work, instead of having multiple gatekeepers. “Now there are more than millions of creators creating content for social networks. You don’t need to ask people,” said the Arab-Israeli vlogger, who has more than 10 million followers on YouTube alone.
“You don’t have to beg newspapers, you just have to make a TikTok video, you don’t have to beg TV producers, you just have to make a YouTube video. This is the first time in human history when this is possible. And now the craziest things are happening,” Nuseir said.
“You can be an eight-year-old boy and make millions of dollars. I’m jealous (audience laughs),” said the 30-year-old creator, showing the audience a picture of little Nastya, who is an eight-year-old girl with more of 300 million followers on social networks and will also make an appearance at the summit.
“This wasn’t possible before. But now you can be the biggest university in the world. Look at the Khan academy, it started on YouTube. You can become the best-selling author. You can create your own news channel. The opportunities are endless.”
The content creator also applauded the local initiates who support thousands of creators in the UAE, including the Billion Follower Summit and urged the audience to start creating, as a grand conclusion to this summit. “My friend told me this once, the past is the Titanic and you know who the iceberg is? The creators,” he signed off.
5 Nas Daily Social Media Hacks
- Follower count is meaningless, don’t chase numbers. Focus on building a community.
- Not all views are created equal. You can make a video with millions of views and it will be instantly forgotten, you can make a video with fewer views but more longevity and it will stand the test of time.
- You may be gone in 5 years, you won’t be relevant anymore. Someone more exciting will come. You have to find a way to live past that expiration date.
- Hire faster. Almost all creators hire too slowly. Nothing is done by itself. It is imperative that you find your team.
- don’t leave it If I quit on day 100, I wouldn’t be here. It took me 271 days and videos to be in front of you all. What have you done 271 times? If you quit early, you’ll never know what’s possible.
