For the Tambaram police in Chennai, the case they are prosecuting is as rare as hen’s teeth after they unearthed shocking facts from an investigation into the extortion of a woman who was arrested on Friday, December 2, on a complaint by one of her husbands. She was caught practicing blackmail to cheat several men.
Abinaya, 32, is a native of Madurai and has married five men in the last 12 years by posing different masks and thoughts. She was staying in Tambaram and the police arrested her on the complaint of Natrajan, her fifth husband. Abinaya covered up her past and married several men, cheating on them by disappearing within months of the wedding.
After investigation, it came to light that Abinaya stole several sovereigns of gold jewelery and cash from each man and fled the scene. Police also nabbed Abinaya’s second husband, 45-year-old Senthil Kumar, for greasing the wheels of Abinaya’s cheating game. According to reports, police are continuing their investigation as Abinaya bought 32 SIM cards using her Aadhaar card.
Abinaya also used various social media numbers and continued to blackmail men based on the messages they sent her. After cheating on her four husbands, Abinaya married Natrajan for the fifth time this August. Natrajan lives in Ranganathapuram, Tambaram after she got into a relationship with him while working with him in a bakery.
Abinaya told Natrajan that she was an orphan and had no one to support her. Natrajan’s parents got married in a temple in Tambaram and the newly wedded couple lived in a separate house. Before Diwali, when Natrajan went to a tailor shop to get her new clothes, Abinaya made off with 17 sovereign gold ornaments and Rs 20,000 in cash.
After being shocked that Abinaya had cheated him, Natrajan approached the police and lodged a complaint. The police launched an investigation and started looking for the accused. After an intensive manhunt, the police arrested Abinaya on Friday and took her into custody. During the investigation, Abinaya confessed to her crimes.
She said that she married Vijay in 2011 and had a child with him. She left Vijay in 2013 after stealing ten sovereign gold. Abinaya then married Senthil Kumar and they lived together for a long time. After eliminating Senthil Kumar, she came to Chennai and changed her name to Kayalveli to hide their identity. In 2020, she married auto driver Panneerselvam from Kelambakkam and left him after six months.
She then married another man, which was her fourth marriage, but it also didn’t last long. She again changed her name to Abinaya and started working in a bakery in Tambaram where she met Natrajan. They tied the knot and got married in August this year. When she cheated and ran away from Natrajan’s home before Diwali, Natrajan lodged a complaint with the police, after which the police caught her from a women’s hostel in Semmancheri.
On interrogation, Abinaya admitted that her second husband, Senthil Kumar, helped her cheat on other men. Police arrested OMR’s Senthil Kumar and the duo was remanded in judicial custody. The police confiscated four more sovereign gold pieces from them.
