The Consul General of Japan in Chennai, Taga Masayuki, presented the Consul General’s Commendation for the fiscal year 2022 in Chennai on Wednesday.
Among the award recipients are TP Imbichammad, President, India-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, P. Viswanathan, President, Kancheepuram Nippon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Chellappa Srirram, Vice President, ABK-AOTS Dosokai, Tamil Nadu Center.
They received the commendation in recognition of their service in deepening mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and India.
Mr Masyuki said the awardees were working to promote better relations between the two countries. “I am very grateful for their contribution, cooperation and efforts to strengthen Indo-Japan relations, be it economic, business or cultural activities,” he said.
Mr. Viswanathan said that this year is special in the history of both the nations as India is celebrating its 75th birthday. th the year of independence and it is 70 th also the year of the establishment of India-Japan diplomatic relations. “When Jawaharlal Nehru addressed the nation after independence, Japan was the first country to congratulate us. Japan is one of the most literate and technically advanced countries in the world. The country combines ancient traditions with aspects of Western life. There is a strong bond between India and Japan and we have a lot in common. Through the chamber, we can further strengthen this bond,” he said.
TP Imbichammad and Chellappa Srirram also spoke during the event.
Mr. Masayuki also felicitated Leon Mohanraj, President, AOTS Alumni Association, Center Trivandrum, Kerala on November 11.
