Chennai: The losing streak and Tamil Nadu’s spirited Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign came to an end on Monday, with Saurashtra and handed them a 44-run defeat in the quarter-finals at Nadiad. With the win, Saurashtra qualified for the semi-finals where they will face Karnataka on Wednesday.
Saurashtra put 293 on the board after TN won the toss and opted to field. Opener H Desai top-scored with 61 off 78 balls and half-centuries from medium batsman AV Vasavada and all-rounder Chirag Jani, put their side in a challenging tally. Left arm spinner R Sai Kishore was the pick of the TN bowlers with figures of 10-40-2.

Three more wickets fell cheaply and the side wobbled at 51-4 as captain Baba Indrajith (53 off 69 ) and Sai Kishore ( 74 off 92) put together a 113 run partnership. But when Indrajith fell, TN again lost wickets in a heap and were dismissed for 249 in the 48th over. Jani scalped three wickets and left-hander Dharmendrasinha Jadeja and Parth Bhut picked up two wickets each for the winning side.
