The RTA has announced revised timetables for metro operations from December 1 to December 3, when it will operate from 5am to 1am the following day.
Getting to the airport this long weekend can take a long time due to heavy traffic that likes to occupy the roads. If you’re planning to travel abroad during the National Day holiday, the best way to get to Terminals 1 and 3 at the airport and ensure you’re on time for your flights is by taking the Dubai Metro.
The RTA has announced revised timetables for its metro operations from December 1 to 3, for the Martyr’s Day and Union Day holidays. The subway will operate from 5 am until 1 am the following morning.
Both terminals are on the Red Line and provide easy access to the Dubai Metro for passengers arriving and departing from international airports. The metro stations are located next to the terminal building, which can be reached on foot in a few minutes.
The final stations on the Red Line are Center Point and Expo 2020. Those boarding the train from the Green Line must arrive at an interchange station – either Burjuman or Union – and continue their journey on the Red Line to get to the airport terminals.
It takes approximately 10 minutes to reach Dubai Airport Terminal 1 and 12 minutes to Terminal 3 from Union Metro Station.
Please note that to use the Metro services you will need to have the Nol card to avoid queuing at the ticket offices. It can be loaded with credit and also gives the traveler a discount on standard fares.
Travelers should also note that Dubai Metro has limited the amount of luggage allowed per passenger to avoid inconvenience to other travelers. They can take up to two suitcases, one large and one small, with hand luggage.
Both lines will resume operation on Sunday (December 4) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (midnight) after the National Day break.
Trains run frequently from DXB Terminals 1 and 3, with both stations on the Red Line.
For people departing from Dubai International Airport Terminal 2, the nearest metro station is Abu Hail. Travelers can continue their journey with Dubai Bus, using numbers 31 and 43 from the metro station.
You can also opt for a taxi from the metro station to get to the terminal. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Terminal 2 from Union Metro Station.
