The fallout from Ripple’s lawsuit sparks discussion on Twitter

In the Ripple lawsuit, motions for summary judgment to exclude expert testimony have now been fully briefed and decisions are awaited. As the outcome of the summary judgment is awaited, discussions are emerging on Twitter about what might happen next.

An XRP user asked: “If Ripple gets a sweeping victory in a lawsuit and dry appeals to the appellate court, what happens in the interim? Ripple has the green light to operate in the US until it make the final decision?”

James K. Filan responded: “The SEC will ask to stay the ruling pending its appeal to the Second Circuit. That means it will ask the court to stay the ruling until the appeal is over. It would be an epic battle between the parties and whether the court agrees with that remains to be seen.”

Attorney Jeremy Hogan argues otherwise: “If she (Judge Torres) simply decides that there was absolutely no violation of Article 5, what is there to ‘stay’ apart from the typical post- the judgment on costs”. Another user believes that if Ripple wins, exchanges will feel more confident to rent XRP again.
